Arctic Tourism Data

As human activities in the Arctic continue to expand, accurate assessment of activities and impacts will be an instrumental component of monitoring and managing this coupled social-ecological system. Although data collection has been inconsistent and variant in the metrics and collection areas used, there has been increasing effort as the Arctic opens up for increased human use.

The NOEP research team has worked to aggregate reliable data relevant to tourism in the Arctic in an effort to enhance understanding of the scope and trends of tourism in this region. There are discontinuities, including the assets measured and the data collection time periods. Data is available for all Arctic nations, although the extent of the available information is different for each country. The data contents table we offer here outlines the available data. Each country can be downloaded individually as an excel worksheet.
